Infra Tech group has in house capabilities in geophysical investigation methods such as Seismic Refraction, Multi-channel Analysis of Surface Waves, Ground Penetrating Radar, Electromagnetics, Electrical Resistivity, Gravity and similar techniques.
These techniques have been developed to ensure adequate geotechnical information can be obtained rapidly, economically and non-invasively with minimum ground disturbance to reduce the geotechnical risks associated with projects.
Advantages of geophysical investigations are:
- Complete and continuous scanning of ground capturing ground variations on a 100% coverage, commonly to depths of up to 60m;
- 2D & 3D models of the site can be developed economically;
- Can be done with minimum or no ground disturbance;
- Reduced access requirements since equipment are lightweight;
- Can then be confirmed with invasive boreholes and trial pits accompanied by sampling & testing;
- Reduces the amount of invasive and costly trial pits and boreholes;
- High level of experience within Infra Tech in interpreting geotechnical properties from geophysical investigations;
- Reduced overall cost of site investigations;
- Geotechnical risks are greatly reduced due to the large amount of information.

- Excavation conditions for linear developments such tunnels ,roads, pipe lines, rail lines, power lines;
- Mapping karst topography;
- Locating buried paleo channels;
- Mapping lime stone pinnacles and depth to rock;
- Ground strength assessment.
